Join us in celebrating 125 years of non-stop compassion

Since 1899, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has moved to the beat of the city, supporting families, feeding the hungry, and providing services for the mentally ill. Together we’ve helped millions of our neighbors in Brooklyn and Queens.

Enjoy our rich history through photos

It all started when a group of concerned Catholics came together to help children orphaned by poverty and disease. Over time, their efforts expanded to include food, clothing, education, and housing.

Today, #CCBQ hosted our Groundbreaking ceremony for the new Gail P. Duke Senior Residence located at 350 Livonia Ave., Brooklyn, New York. The state-of-the-art facility designed for comfortable aging in place includes 141 units, backup generator power for cooling, sheltering in place, and other emergency needs, serving as a neighborhood hub during climate risk events. 🏢 Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens is one of the largest providers of affordable housing in the nation and currently provides 4,567 units of affordable housing with support services for seniors, families, veterans and the formerly homeless. This proposed senior building is an integral part of the Catholic Charities’ approach to providing intergenerational, affordable, and safe housing in Brooklyn. 💛💙 “Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has always been a beacon of hope, offering support, love, and care to those in need. With this new senior residence, they are not just building homes but nurturing a community where seniors can feel safe, valued, and connected. This initiative reflects their mission to serve the most vulnerable among us and ensures that our seniors continue to be an integral part of our community fabric. At the heart of this construction project is indeed a great love of neighbor, knowing that these apartments will offer many the chance to age with dignity.” — Most Reverend Robert J.
