Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Distributes 4,500 Bags of Food at Emergency Pop-Up Food Distribution in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn for Neighbors Still in Need as a Result of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens distributed 4,500 bags of food at an Emergency Pop-Up Pantry in Bedford-Stuyvesant at Our Lady of Victory Church of St. Martin de Porres Parish on Friday, June 19, 2020.
Since March 24, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, in partnership with parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn, has provided over 300,000 meals through our food pantry network, emergency pop-up food distributions, and home delivered meals programs.
On Friday, June 19, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens distributed a total of nearly 16,500 meals through 4,500 bags of food. Catholic Charities served 1,500 individuals who received 3 bags of food consisting of 11 meals total. Bags contained dry staple goods, pasta, dry beans, crackers, farina, fresh chicken, produce, 5 lb. bag of potatoes, 2 lb. bag of carrots, 3 lb. bag of apples, 4 lb. bag of onions, celery, cucumbers, strawberries, tomato sauce, apple sauce, fruit cups, tortillas, chips, tuna, juices and a recipe.
Individuals received access to supportive services via our call center and behavioral health services via telehealth, a coping with stress flyer and outreach material encouraging participants to self-respond to the 2020 Census.
As New York City is now in phase two of reopening, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens will continue to serve communities severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially our neighbors in need who have lost their jobs, wages, and did not qualify for federal stimulus packages.
