Catholic Charities Community Program Services recently started their three-part series of Pajama Storytime at the Malcolm X Day Care Center in Corona, Queens. Parents were taught the importance of establishing a reading routine with children at an early age to increase cognitive functions. Families later enjoyed an interactive art activity, where they crafted a caterpillar using various color circles to be used as a reading chart tracker. To conclude the workshop, children listened to a reading of “Eating the Alphabet” by Lois Ehlert. Participants went home with a copy of the book, Target gift cards and cozy pillows and blankets (perfect for storytime at home!) This workshop is funded in part by the Maternity & Early Childhood Foundation.
