Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens along with Catholic Migration Services, Fidelis Care, and Queens Congregations United for Action held a day of service for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy at St. Mary Star of the Sea School in the Rockaways. The newly launched Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Disaster Case Management and Project Hope programs were present to assist those affected by Hurricane Sandy with long-term case management, address social needs as well as connect clients with community resources. A disaster response table was set up to distribute valuable information about immigrants’ access to legal service, access to free or affordable health care, on-site crisis counseling and much more. Individuals obtained referrals to our long-term case management program and received beneficial information about the services offered at CCBQ.
