Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens to Participate in the National Council for Behavioral Health Care’s Enhancing Use of Medications for Addiction Treatment in Project ECHO

Selected Across the Country
Brooklyn, NY –Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services (CCNS), an affiliate of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, was selected among 15 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) to participate in the National Council for Behavioral Health Care’s Enhancing Use of Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) in CCBHCs Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO).
ECHO is a six-month learning collaborative committed to increasing the capacity for MAT that will engage Catholic Charities’ CCBHC team in peer-to-peer learning and presentations around real cases, with experts in various healthcare disciplines. The result will be actionable recommendations about integrating Medications for Addiction Treatment services in the Catholic Charities Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics.

The Catholic Charities Behavioral Health Center’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics programs are located at 1623 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn and 1847 Mott Avenue, Far Rockaway. The sites offer comprehensive mental health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment services that are integrated with an array of wraparound supports, round-the clock 24/7 crisis care, targeted case management, and peer support, including that specifically designed for individuals living with substance use disorders, as well as veterans.
The National Council offers the MAT Project ECHO learning collaborative with support from the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and the Opioid Response Network (ORN).

The ECHO approach, however, utilizes video conferencing to train primary care clinicians to treat chronic illnesses and conditions, such as diabetes, complex care, chronic pain, HIV/AIDS, rheumatologic disorders, and dementia, among others.
