Each year, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens puts your donations to work during the Christmas season to bring hope and joy to children and families. This year, we raised over $70,000 in funds and toys through our Toy Drive, our Employee Dollar Drive, the Bright Christmas Fund from The Tablet, the Frederick Foundation, and other initiatives.
More than 1,600 children received toys through donations collected at Brooklyn and Queens parishes and at our Community Centers from our Toy Drive. TD Bank gift cards, valued at $25 or $50, were also provided to struggling families this holiday season. The gift cards were purchased through Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens’ Employee Dollar Drive and a $25,000 grant from the Frederick Foundation. In addition, families in need of basic provisions also benefited from these initiatives and received food, clothing and/or help with utility bills. Thanks to the Bright Christmas Fund from The Tablet, the diocesan newspaper, $35,000 was donated to six of our programs, which went directly to those we serve, including individuals in crisis, older adults, and children.
