Yesterday, CCBQ’s Community Programming Services and Office of Mission partnered with St. Benedict the Moor Parish in Jamaica, Queens to host a pop-up food pantry for furloughed government workers. Workers received much needed non-perishable food, produce, toiletries (generously donated by rock CAN roll and Empire BlueCross BlueShield), gas cards and food vouchers. As part of their Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, student volunteers from M.S. 217 in Briarwood, Queens assisted with setting up the event and distribution. Special thanks to staff volunteers from CCBQ and St. Benedict the Moor Parish. Representatives from our Mobile Walk-In Center, ClearCaptions and the NYC Human Resources Administration were also in attendance to offer resources.
