Members of the CCBQ After School P.L.U.S. program at Public School 50 in Jamaica, N.Y., organized a Catholic Charities fair on Thursday, Nov. 14, whick took place during their parent-teacher conference day. The fair had many stations showcasing services that Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has to offer families and children, as well as services their community can provide.
At the fair, there were tables and representatives with information on: Affordable health insurance, depression screenings, family and child counseling, operation safe child, ESL classes, WIC and healthy eating, homelessness prevention, disaster preparedness, older adult services, early childhood programs, wholistic case management and emergency assistance, SYEP and Young Adult Internships. Additionally, New York Life created ID cards for the children, and the Queens Library was set up issuing library cards to children and adults.
