Affordable Housing Program Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens
Our Affordable Housing Program answers a critical need in the United States where one of every five families faces significant housing challenges that impact their daily lives and well-being. These families find themselves in difficult situations: some reside in buildings that fail to meet basic safety and health standards, others endure cramped living conditions with multiple family members sharing small spaces, and many are forced to allocate an unsustainable portion of their income just to keep a roof over their heads. The housing market has reached a critical point where housing costs have escalated so dramatically that millions of American families must make impossible choices between adequate shelter and other fundamental necessities of life. The situation is particularly stark when considering that a mere fifteen percent of American families have the financial means to purchase a median-priced new home in today’s market.
In alignment with our Catholic tradition, which firmly establishes shelter as a fundamental human right, Catholic Charities Progress of Peoples Development (CCPOP) has made affordable housing a cornerstone of our mission. Our Affordable Housing Program addresses this pressing need in our community. If you are experiencing housing difficulties and seeking assistance, we encourage you to submit a written application to:
