Students Collect $2,786 to Support Catholic Charities Western Queens Home Delivered Meals Program for Homebound Adults

On June 12, 2023, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens received a generous donation in the amount of $2,786.00 from students at the Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School Office of Campus Ministry in East Elmhurst, New York. The funds collected will support the Western Queens Home Delivered Meals Program for homebound adults in Jamaica, Queens.

“We admire your mission to enrich and support the lives of seniors, and assist them to maintain their independence, by providing nutritious food and human connections”, said Mrs. Emilia Sciame Doddato, director of campus ministry and student council moderator at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School.

Each year, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens provides more than 500,000 meals to the homebound elderly, in addition to a full range of case management services. Catholic Charities provides one hot meal and one cold pack to clients to improve the quality of life for older adults. Meals include Kosher, non-Kosher and Korean cuisine.

“We would like to thank the Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School Campus Ministry community for their support to the work of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens and affiliated agencies,” said Debra Hoffer, LMSW, director of field operations, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens. “The program is so grateful for the special donation. Very often our homebound clients feel invisible and isolated, so wonderful gestures like this, especially from the younger generation helps make our older adults feel more connected and valued.”
