Four hundred participants of CCBQ’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program recently gathered in Queens for our 7th Annual World Breastfeeding Week celebrations. This year’s theme was “Breastfeeding: Foundation of Life”, teaching participants the importance of breastfeeding, nutrition, food security, poverty reduction and working together to support breastfeeding. Families received resources from U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); United Healthcare; and A Better Balance. Festivities also included games and a fashion show. This event was made possible by our Family Stabilization Services; Homebase Homelessness Prevention; and our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) participants. In addition, CCBQ’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) staff members recently participated in the Annual Breastfeeding Subway Caravan at City Hall Park in Manhattan to support breastfeeding rights in public for mothers and their babies.
